How I made the Front cover of the School Magazine
This
is when I went on to Photoshop and then had to remove some blemishes from the
face of my model. Added to this at this point I also cropped the photo as the
width of the image was too large for a magazine and therefore by cropping it I
fixed this problem.
After
I got further into my front cover, I then had to find a barcode in the internet
that I could use. Once I found one that I felt would fit on the school magazine
I right clicked on the image and then chose the option “save picture as.” This
would then allow me to import the photo onto the front cover.
At
first I made some boxes and then chose a colour at random so that I knew where
the boxes ended. The way in which I made the boxes was the select the rectangle
tool as shown in the print screen. Once I had selected this I was then able to
click and drag so that the box was the right size. Also shown on this print
screen is the layers, as I needed to create a new layer in order to make sure
that the banner “Wilmington’s Winners” was at the front and therefore visible.
The way in which you create new layer was to select the first option along the
bottom of the layer box. However i had to move the second layer down underneath
layer one so that it was on top.
After
I created the box at the bottom of the front cover I chose a colour to fill the
box. I also had to place a barcode so that my school magazine looks like a real
one and therefore I found the image (as shown above). After I had the image
saved on my area I went to “file” and then down to “place” so that afterwards I
could just click here I wanted it and then the image will go into that position.
After
selecting “place” this pop up box will come up. It is at this point that you
have to find the image that you had previously saved in your area and then
press open.
This
is after I have placed it. It is still possible for you to move the image after
you have placed it so that it is in the exact position that you want the image
to be in.
If
there is a block area that you want to fill it is possible for you to do this.
The way in which this is done is to click on the colour command at the bottom
of the tool bar on the left hand side. To then choose a colour you have to
double click for the pop up box to come up, as shown in the print screen.
It
is also possible for you to change the colour of the text in a similar way, by
using the same command. If you wanted to have a different outline of the text
to the fill colour then you have to click on the box underneath the colour fill
icon. It is shown in this print screen with a red line going diagonal across
the box.
The
technique stated above is shown in this print screen with the fill colour being
maroon and then the outline of the text being black. This will enable the text
to stand out more on a more prominent background.
This is an excellent presentation of the progression to the final product. Make sure you do this consistently throughout the year.
